TREASURES

Stage device for children and adolescents

Mexico is a country of disappearances, a consequence of the State's failed policy against violence, which has resulted in more than 133,000 disappearances as of 2026.

As part of the struggle to remember the disappeared, we present this project, understanding the urgent need to overcome the fear of sharing and discussing this issue with our children and teenagers.

Treasures is a theatrical piece written and directed by Zahara Gómez Luchini to open a dialogue with younger audiences about enforced disappearance.

SYNOPSIS

Five adventurers embark on a journey in search of their most precious treasures; they will overcome difficult obstacles that will lead them to build a lifelong friendship.
Mirna has had her most valuable treasure stolen. Amidst sadness and confusion, she decides to undertake a search on her own. Along the way, she will encounter other brave women whose treasures have also been stolen. They will venture into the hostile desert, which will fill their path with all kinds of surprises and adversities; for them, overcoming these challenges will lead them to find something more than just their treasures.

PRESENTATIONS

"Treasures" has been presented at institutional venues such as the Teatro Helénico (2020, Mexico City), as part of the "Recipe Book for Memory" exhibition at the Centro de la Imagen. It was also presented at the Spanish Cultural Center in Mexico (2023, Mexico City), as well as internationally in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The project has strengthened and consolidated its role as an artistic and educational tool for dialogue, memory, and human rights. As a result, a season has been programmed throughout the year in schools, cultural spaces, and community centers in Mexico City, Guanajuato, Texcoco, and Morelos.
